Elmar Braß was born on March 14 th, 1979 in Celle/Germany and grew up in Niger/Northwest Africa and returned to germany in 1987. He started with private pianolessons at the age of 11 and studied classical piano and jazz at the conservatory in Hannover/Germany and made his degree in 2005. Elmar Braß released three recordings as a leader, the last published by Laikarecords, coproduced by switzer radio station Drs and the swiss festival Generations featuring Oliver Groenewald, tr, Markus Schieferdecker bass, and Dejan Terzic, drums and appears as sideman on recordings with the Lorenz Hargassner Quartet and the Dirk Piezunka Quartet. 2008 and 09 he was selected for the semifinals of the int. piano competition of the montreux jazz festival. In dec. 2008 he rec. with his trio for the japanese Jazzlabel Sawano Rec. Since Oct. 2009 he is teaching Jazzpiano at the Musikhochschule Hannover. He performed in Germany,France,Switzerland, Russia, Austria and worked/played with artists like Dusko Goykovich, Ack van Rooyen, Lewis Nash, Roman Schwaller,Dejan Terzic, Adrian Mears, Markus Schieferdecker, Guido May ,Oliver Groenewald,Christian Schoenefeld, Frederick Köster,Ignaz Dinne, Matthias u. Andreas Pichler,Kai Bussenius, Philipp Steen,Peter Schwebs, Sandra Hempel, Maze, Herve Jeanne and many more…
